There are many types of celebrities covered in the 7 Levels of Celebrity and on the Celebrity Scale.  Using your own words- how would YOU define the following types of celebrity and fame?

Micro Celebrity

Niche Celebrity

Online/Internet Celebrity

Offline Celebrity

Proto Celebrity

Mainstream Celebrity

Since I am a bit biased in the way I see celebrity and fame- I’m looking for alternative perspectives and definitions to review.  I invite you to email me your definitions/answers, if you so choose. I appreciate you taking the time to assist me.

Now that my research for the book is well underway- it’s just about time for me to start giving some short descriptions of each of the 7 Levels of Celebrity.  I’m working on some simple pictures and graphs to help explain each level and what they mean.  Keep in mind- I always hated graphs and charts when I was in school- so I don’t want people to lose their interest.

I will try to stick to the “KISS” principle…if I don’t get bored with them…you probably won’t either.

My descriptions of the 7 Levels of Celebrity will not be too detailed.  I will go through one level a week (with one or two posts at most) for the next seven weeks.  I encourage discussion, feedback and debate about each level.  Your input will help me with the editing process for the finished book.

I received an interesting email from Curtis who found the 7LOC website and thought it was a joke.  He blasted me for using such a “tired” and obviously “fake” name…Hilton…as my last name.

Sorry to disappoint you Curtis, but my name is- and has always been- Hilton.  I was born a “Hilton” and will die with the name “Hilton” on my gravestone.

Sure, the name does make the eyebrows rise a bit when speaking with certain people about celebrity and fame.  But as far as I know- I am not related to Paris Hilton or the Hilton Hotel family.  “Perez Hilton” is a pseudonym and the guy who uses the name, Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., has turned it into a very unique and influential brand that goes beyond the name itself.

I have no affiliation or relationship with any of them.  I have not met any of them.  Nor have I ever been contacted or talked to any of them. Perhaps one day that will change.

Paris Hilton is “famous for being famous” as some people have claimed.  Perez Hilton gives us the juicy details about the celebrities who have already hit a high level of celebrity and fame.  My interest in celebrity and fame is the process of getting to the point where Paris is and where Perez starts taking an interest in your life as well as the levels of celebrity you simultaneously occupy in the different aspects of your life.

So essentially- I want to show people how to get Perez Hilton and other celebrity bloggers/media to start talking about them and how to be at least as famous as Paris Hilton by understanding the 7 Levels of Celebrity.  How else can I teach this…than to go through the process myself?

• Just joined Twitter…can’t decide on a good pic to use on the profile. I’m still figuring it all out. #
• Here’s my first celeb mention- I met Bret Michaels (Poison) on 9/13/08. Nice guy but I don’t get why women like him so much. #
• I also met Ambre Lake (Rock of Love Season 2 winner) at the Bret Michaels show. She was really cool. I never even watched the show. #
• I recorded the last four episodes of Rock of Love Season 2 on the DVR and watched them all over the weekend. I still don’t get it… #
• I’m going through my pic archive to find pictures of me with celebrities to use on the 7LOC website. Turns out- I have quite a few… #
